YouTube Shorts maker: turn a long video into Shorts with AI
Paste the link of a video from your channel. TONTRIA finds the best moments, crops them to 9:16 following the person on screen, adds animated captions and lets you schedule each Short on YouTube.
1 credit = 1 minute of video processed. The free plan includes 30 credits to start, no card needed.
From one long video to a month of Shorts
Paste the YouTube link
Any video you own or have permission to use — a live session, an interview, a vlog, a stream. You can also upload a file.
Set the clips you want
How many (up to 20), how long (30–90 seconds by default), the edit mode and the caption style. Optionally, describe the moments you want.
Review the suggestions
Every clip comes with a virality score, its transcript and a label. Trim, fix a word, change the caption style.
Schedule on YouTube
Connect your channel and publish each Short now or at a set date and time. For TikTok and Instagram, export the same file.
Made for channels that post often
Starts from a link
No download and re-upload: paste the YouTube URL and the video is processed in the cloud.
Vertical crop that follows faces
The 9:16 reframe tracks whoever is talking or singing; split screen fits two people.
Animated captions
Karaoke, word by word, viral or phrase templates with your fonts and colors.
Virality score
Start with the strongest clips instead of watching the whole video again.
YouTube scheduling
Publish or schedule Shorts on your channel from TONTRIA, with title and description drafted for each clip.
Your language
The language of the video is detected automatically — Spanish, English, Portuguese and many more.
Why turn long videos into Shorts
Long videos build a relationship with the people who already know you. Shorts find new people: they are shown to viewers who have never seen your channel, and the ones that land send people to the full video. If you already publish long videos, you are sitting on dozens of Shorts.
The hard part is the editing. Finding the moments, cropping each one to vertical, keeping the person in frame and adding captions takes hours per video. That is the part TONTRIA automates, so you spend your time choosing and polishing instead of cutting.
What makes a good Short from a long video
- One idea per clip. A complete thought, a story, a tip, a chorus — not a fragment that needs the rest of the video.
- The hook first. Start on the strongest line. If context is needed, put it on screen as a hook in the first seconds.
- The person in frame. A crop that follows the face looks like it was filmed vertically.
- Captions. Many people watch with the sound off; captions also keep attention on the words.
Built in the music business, works for any channel
TONTRIA was made for artists, labels and music channels — that is why it has an edit mode for singing, karaoke captions and tools for lyric videos and release assets. The clipping works the same for interviews, podcasts, streams and vlogs. If your channel is about music, see AI clips for musicians. To connect your Shorts to the music video, the Premiere and the Official Artist Channel, read how to promote music on YouTube.
Tip: don’t publish all the Shorts from one video on the same day. Schedule one a day for a week and watch which topic gets the most views.
YouTube to Shorts: questions
Which app turns a long YouTube video into Shorts automatically?
TONTRIA Clips. Paste the link of a video from your channel: it suggests the best moments, reframes them to vertical 9:16 following the person on screen, adds animated captions and can publish or schedule each Short directly on YouTube. The free plan gives you 30 credits to start (one time, no card needed) with 720p export and a watermark.
How do I turn a YouTube video into Shorts?
Paste the video link in TONTRIA, choose how many clips you want and a caption style, and review the vertical clips it suggests. Then download them or schedule them on your channel. The free plan gives you 30 credits (30 minutes of video) to start.
Can I use any YouTube video?
Only videos you own or have permission to use. You are responsible for the rights to the content you process.
Should my Shorts be as long as YouTube allows?
Not necessarily: most clips that work are much shorter than the limit. TONTRIA cuts 30 to 90 seconds by default and you can change the minimum and maximum. YouTube’s current length limit is in the video sizes guide.
Can TONTRIA publish to TikTok and Instagram too?
TONTRIA publishes and schedules directly on YouTube. For TikTok, Instagram and the other networks, it reminds you at the time you chose, with the text ready to paste and the file to download.
Can Shorts cut from my long videos make money on YouTube?
Yes, once your channel is in the YouTube Partner Program. According to YouTube’s eligibility page (read on 16 October 2026), a channel can join with 1,000 subscribers plus either 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days or 4,000 qualified watch hours on long videos in the last 12 months; watch hours from the Shorts feed don’t count toward the 4,000, and private, unlisted or deleted Shorts don’t count at all. Meeting the threshold starts a review; it isn’t automatic. Shorts cut from your own long videos are your content; re-uploading other people’s videos without real changes can cost the whole channel its monetization under the reused content policy. TONTRIA makes and schedules the Shorts; it doesn’t guarantee monetization.
Is it free?
There is a free plan with 30 credits to start (1 credit = 1 minute of video; one time, no card needed), 720p export and a watermark. Paid plans start at USD 10 a month. See pricing.
